Police: Several teens injured in midnight crash; alcohol likely a factor

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Four teenagers were hospitalized following a crash just after midnight on Tuesday.

It happened at the intersection of 28th Avenue and Baldwin Street in Ottawa County’s Georgetown Township.

A 16-year-old female driver of a 2016 Dodge Charger ran the stoplight and was struck by a Volkswagen in the driver’s side door, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was the only one in the car wearing the seat belt and was critically injured. Two 17-year-old female passengers, as well as a 15-year-old female passenger were also hospitalized at DeVos Children’s Hospital. . They’re all listed in stable condition.

The 23-year-old female driver of the second car reported she wasn’t injured, but later sought treatment at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
