ALLEGAN, Mich. – A former representative who was removed from her seat in the Michigan House of Representatives for having an affair, has filed for divorce.

Cindy Gamrat, who was representative of the 80th District, was expelled after it was revealed that she had an affair with fellow representative Todd Courser of Lapeer, Michigan.  Courser resigned from his seat.  Both Courser and Gamrat were charged criminally with misconduct, but charges were dropped for Gamrat.

In the resulting scandal, Gamrat’s husband, Joe, was discovered to have been sending anonymous texts to Gamrat and Courser threatening to expose their affair.

The Allegan County Clerk’s office confirmed to FOX 17 that Gamrat filed for divorce from Joe on August 3rd.
