MUSKEGON, Mich. — The U.S. Coast Guard says three people were rescued Wednesday afternoon after their boat sank in Muskegon Lake.

According to a release, the Coast Guard and a good Samaritan pulled the people from the water after a distress call was heard at the Coast Guard command center in Milwaukee.

Officials say the good Samaritan also heard the call over the radio and went to the area.

The boaters were in the water for less than 20 minutes and did not require any medical care.   All of them were wearing life jackets, according to a release.

The boat sank half a mile west of Lake Shore Yacht Harbor.
