WATERVLIET, Mich. — A suspect is now in custody in a series of breaking and entering cases in Covert Township.

The Covert Township Police Department had been investigating the string of break-ins when they developed a lead on the location of the stolen property, according to a release.

Michigan State Police, Southwest Enforcement Team and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department used those leads to execute a search warrant in a home on N. Watervliet Road.

Officers recovered stolen items worth about $5,000, according to a release.

The suspect was taken into custody on unrelated charges, but investigators are seeking charges for receiving and concealing stolen property.  The suspect will be identified when they are formally charged.
