Xenith is recalling some of its football helmets because of potential cracking issues.

The company says the shells of certain gloss or metallic painted helmets could crack, posing a threat for head injuries.

According to the company’s website, the helmets included in the recall are the EPIC Varsity, X2 Varsity, X2E Varsity and youth helmets that were manufactured or reconditioned and painted by the company between May 1, 2015 and March 18.

If you don’t know which helmet you have, you can call the company to check if your helmet’s serial number is included in the recall.  The number is 800-956-9022.

You can return the helmets and they will mail you a replacement at no charge.  So far, no injuries have been reported.
