GREENVILLE, Mich. — The 52nd annual Danish Festival was underway in Greenville for it’s second and biggest day Saturday.
The morning’s festivities included a Danish breakfast, a car show and the Grand Dansk parade.
Our Alyssa Hearin was in Greenville on Saturday morning with a look at the day.
“This time of year is very busy for Greenville, it brings the most amount of people that we have to Greenville at one time,” says Parade Coordinator Rebekah Olejnik.
Thousands of people crowded Greenville on Saturday for the Danish Festival and the morning kicked off with none other than a hot air balloon float.
In one of those balloons was a very special lady who is more than 100 years old.
“It was on her bucket list of things to do so she got to go up with the first balloon out of here, which is kind of neat,” said balloon pilot Wes Dickerson.
Next, 145 runners took to the streets for the Road Run Race, and just down the way engines roared at the 31st annual Danish Car Show.
“It’s very rewarding to see who you can get and where they’re from, some people come from quite a ways away and we’re very happy about that,” says Organizer Ralph Krantz.
Those people from out of town made their way to the biggest event of the day, the Grand Dansk Parade with 100 floats this year.
This year's festival will wrap up on Sunday.
