BYRON CENTER, Mich. — A Kent County golf course sustained heavy damage Saturday as storms ripped through West Michigan.
The Ironwood Golf Course suffered 83 acres worth of damage, with several trees uprooted. It’s a situation the owners say is even worse than the heavy wind damage the course suffered in 1998.
“It’s just total devastation,” said Ironwood owner Joy Bradley.
Bradley says she left the course just 15 minutes before a tornado hit. The course has entertained generations of golfers, and Bradley and her family are now working to restore it.
“We will survive, but it’s tough. This one’s a tough one,” Bradley said.
Bradley and her family say they’re thankful for the support they’ve received as they work to restore the course. They hope to reopen in the next month or so. Professional tree removal and clean up will begin Monday.
