One person dies in Battle Creek fire

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – One person was found dead inside a house that burned Monday night in Battle Creek.

Crews were called to the home in the 200 block of East Michigan Avenue at about 7:30pm.  They found the first and second floors of the home to be burning, and the fire was spreading to the attic.  The victim was found on the first floor, according to the fire department.

One firefighter also sustained a back injury while fighting the fire.

The cause of the fire and the fatality are still under investigation.
