Second sexual assault reported near GVSU campus

ALLENDALE, Mich. — For the second time this weekend, students at Grand Valley State University were alerted about a reported sexual assault near the main campus.

According to an alert sent out to students Sunday, a second assault was reported Sunday afternoon. According to police, the incident happened Saturday just before 2:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Campus View Apartments on 42nd Avenue in Allendale.

The victim was retrieving items in their back seat when a male suspect approached from behind and sexually assaulted them, according to police. No description of the suspect is available. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the complaint.

Thefirst sexual assault reportedly happened on Friday near the Burger King along 48th Avenue and near Lake Michigan Drive.
