How to avoid back strain and poor posture from heavy school back packs

Remove as much stress as possible from the student:

  • The back pack should ideally be no more than 10% of the student’s body weight. Most students are carrying 20% of their weight, which leads to poor posture.
  • Have the straps balanced on both shoulders.
  • Back packs should be carried higher on the back, centered and upright.
  • Side note: looking down at electronic devices also leads to poor posture.
