VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A 19-year-old Illinois man was arrested Friday after allegedly fleeing from police along I-94.

Michigan State Police say the chase started at about 6:30 p.m. when troopers attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding on westbound I-94 near Hartford.  Police say in a release the driver fled and did not stop until the vehicle struck a tire deflation device near Coloma.

According to the release, the vehicle was stolen from the Detroit area earlier Friday.  Investigators say an assault rifle and large amounts of marijuana and money were found in the vehicle.

The suspect is behind bars in Van Buren County and will be identified after he is formally arraigned.
