Man arrested for operating watercraft with .25 BAC

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Chicago-area man was arrested on Labor Day for operating a personal watercraft while intoxicated and having a juvenile aboard.

Van Buren County Marine Deputies were on routine patrol on Scott Lake, according to the sheriff’s department when the Naperville, Illinois man approached them on his personal watercraft.  The juvenile was sitting in front the the vessel.  The deputies were able to determine from talking with the man that he was intoxicated.

The man was arrested and found to have a blood alcohol content of .25.  The legal Michigan limit is .08.  Deputies returned the watercraft to the dock and the juvenile was returned to his mother.

The man’s name will be released after his arraignment.
