WEST MICHIGAN — A dry, stable area of high pressure has slid into the Midwest behind yesterday’s cold front. This will give us fantastic weather to close out the weekend. It will be a little bit on the cool side as you head outside this morning and tonight, but daytime highs in the lower to middle 70s will provide for just about ideal conditions for any outdoor plans. Here’s a look at the current surface map:

On the backside of this high, a southerly flow is pumping up warmer air into the Plains states. This is a sign of things to come tomorrow and Tuesday, as a slow warming trend is expected.

In the meantime, today also looks like a much better day to be out on Lake Michigan:

Light and variable winds this afternoon and evening will cause the waves to continue to subside through the day. This is in stark contrast to yesterday when winds gusted to over 40 mph in some lakeshore areas:

In the extended forecast, a cold front passing through on Tuesday night and early Wednesday will bring our next chance of rain. Some rain is possible again on Saturday, but the extended forecast is looking pretty dry and comfortable for the most part.
