BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A Battle Creek man is facing assault charges after becoming upset with neighbors. He is accused of using a crowbar to pry open a screen door and pointing a shotgun at the residents.

Battle Creek Police Department officers were called Thursday to a house on Vale Street south of Michigan Avenue around 5:08 a.m. Calls to the department said a man was trying to get into the house with an ax and three pit bulls. While the man was unarmed when officers arrived and the dogs were wandering around, the story came out that the suspect had argued with his neighbors and returned with the dogs, shotgun, knives, ax, and crowbar.

The man was arrested without injuries to anyone and the dogs were rounded up to be left with the man’s girlfriend.
