GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- After weeks of headaches trying to get a refund from a shuttered spa business, a Holland woman has her money back after contacting the FOX 17 Problem Solvers.
Sara Zlotnicki booked the massages back in June at Massage Green Spa. She received an email confirmation and thought everything was a go. Then, when she and her mother showed up for their appointments in July, they found an empty, closed down store front. It had been closed for almost two weeks prior to her appointment.
Zlotnicki later found out two male masseuses were accused of inappropriately touching clients, and the owner shut the spa down without giving her notice.
"If I have to cancel an appointment at this massage place I have to do it ahead of time, otherwise they charge me for the massage therapist's time," Zlotnicki said. "That's fair. But I think my time is valuable, too."
Zlotnicki called the corporate office to get it straightened out, and thought a refund would be no problem. She was told that she would have to use her massage in Battle Creek, but that's an hour and a half from her house.
When she called the Battle Creek location, she said she was told they had no control over what happens in Grand Rapids and wouldn't give her a refund.
Zlotnicki continued to go back and forth with them, and corporate told her they couldn't do much. The FOX 17 Problem Solvers reached out to the corporate office several different times last week. On Friday, the office acknowledged that they had received our messages.
Monday, after nearly two months, she received a call and now has a complete refund and an apology.
