ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman suffered critical injuries Tuesday morning in a crash with a deer.

Kent County deputies say a vehicle heading north on Algoma Avenue hit a deer just before 9:00am.  The deer was propelled through the air into the windshield of another vehicle heading south.   The woman driving that vehicle was critically injured and taken to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids.  She is from Kent City, according to deputies.

The driver of the first vehicle was not injured.  A third vehicle stopped and helped the injured driver and called deputies.

Deputies say that alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
