GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A popular downtown Halloween party is moving indoors this year.

Halloween on Ionia will not be outdoors for 2016, but instead will be indoors at Stella's Lounge and the Waldron Public House in downtown Grand Rapids.

Organizers of the event say the weather is too unpredictable at the end of October for an outdoor party.

There will be no cover charge for this year's event, which begins at 8 PM on October 29. Organizers hope this will make the event more affordable, since last year's tickets cost between 15 and 20 dollars.

The party will be themed after the popular NetFlix show, Stranger Things.  It will feature an upside-down room at Stella's, similar to the show.  The party will cover two floors of the Waldron - one will be decorated like the Forest and the other like the Byers' house.

Rain dampened the event last year and event organizers are hoping people will enjoy the indoor aspects of the party.  There is no cover charge and there will be drink specials.  For more details visit the Halloween on Ionia Facebook page.

Organizers say Irish on Ionia at St. Patrick's Day will continue to be held outdoors.
