RODNEY, Mich. — Deputies in Mecosta County arrested a man for OWI and assaulting an officer Friday night.

It started around 9:00 p.m. when deputies responded to an accident on 14 Mile Rd. near 110th Ave. When they got there, they learned the driver lost control of the vehicle and flipped in a cornfield. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in that crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. During that time, deputies say he assaulted a deputy. That deputy had minor injuries and didn’t get medical attention.

Once the driver was cleared from the hospital, deputies arrested him.
