GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Grand Rapids police officer was officially arraigned Tuesday on drunk driving charges.

Michael Rozema was arrested early on October 16 after leaving the scene of a minor crash by Michigan State Police. Police say that Rozema took a breath test and had a blood alcohol content over .08, which is the legal limit in Michigan.

Rozema is charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Failing to Report An Accident.  Both are misdemeanors.

He faces a maximum of 93 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.  He could also get six points added to his driving record and have his driver’s license suspended for between six months and two years.

Rozema entered a not guilty plea at the hearing.  He is under bond to not use alcohol.  His next hearing will be Nov. 17.
