Juvenile caught vandalizing Portage Office Max store

PORTAGE, Mich. — The Portage Department of Public Safety is investigating vandalism to an Office Max store early Saturday morning.

At 3:46 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the Office Max at 6212 S. Westnedge Ave. in reference to a business alarm indicating glass breakage. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered several of the large glass windows in the front of the store were damaged.

They also observed a juvenile male walking around inside the store damaging merchandise.

Officers were able to enter the store through one of the broken windows and detain the juvenile.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the juvenile acted alone. A parent was notified and the juvenile was transported to the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.

Charges of breaking and entering and malicious destruction of property are being forwarded to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
