Millions of dehumidifiers recalled due to fire, burn hazards

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 3.4 million dehumidifiers under dozens of brand names due to potential fire hazards. Consumers have already reported millions of dollars in property damage.

Midea Dehumidifiers — The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards. About 3.4 million units are impacted. Midea has received 38 reports of smoke and fire, causing at least $4.8 million in property damage. Dozens of brands are named in the recall, including some made by Kenmore, GE, and many others.
