Suspect charged in murder of South Haven man

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – The Barry County Prosecutor has authorized Open Murder charges against a South Haven man for a murder in July.

John Joseph Calgaro, 48, is being charged in the murder of Matthew Morin, 39, in July.

South Haven police say Morin was reported missing on July 9 and his body was found in a wooded area of Barry County on July 12.  Calgaro was a suspect in the case and was taken into custody earlier on a parole violation.  He has been in custody ever since.

South Haven police, Michigan State Police and the Barry County Prosecutor have been investigating the case.
