GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Could Michigan be the deciding swing state in the race for the White House? Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump plan to campaign in the state on the final day before the election.

"It indicates the importance of Michigan at the very last moments,” said Erika King, a political science professor at Grand Valley State University. “Something is telling (both campaigns) Michigan is important."

Clinton’s lead in the polls has been shrinking in recent weeks. Political experts say campaigns are data driven, and it's likely the candidates' internal polls show something much tighter than the public polls.

"There are a handful of six or seven states that could be the deciding state,” King said. “They range from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire to Ohio to Florida, and Michigan is one of them."
