KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says it responded to reports of a house fire in the 2100 block of Miller Road about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, crews found a couch on fire in the basement which caused heavy smoke damage to the home.

After putting that fire out, deputies say they found drugs and paraphernalia.

A 25-year-old Kalamazoo man was arrested at the scene for violating parole.

Deputies say he could face additional drug charges once the investigation is complete.

Luckily the fire didn’t spread and no one was injured.
