GRAND HAVEN TWP., Mich. – A Grand Haven man was injured Tuesday night when a spray paint can that he was heating with a blow torch exploded.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says that crews went to the man’s home on Meadowlark Drive at about 9:30pm on reports of a possible garage fire and explosion.  They arrived to find no fire, but the doors of the garage had been pushed out by the explosion.

Sgt. Steve Austin says that Kevin Sylvester was planning on painting the rims of his truck and was heating the spray paint can when it exploded.  Sylvester was listed in fair condition Wednesday morning.
