HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Macomb County man was seriously injured after being trapped in the back of a garbage truck for a few hours overnight.

The 40-year-old man was apparently in the dumpster being the United Methodist Church in Mt. Clemens when the truck arrived and emptied the dumpster into the truck.

The truck’s driver told Macomb County deputies that he had started his route at about 3:00am and after several stops, he stopped at a McDonald’s in Harrison Township.  There, he saw the man’s arm waving from inside the back of the truck.  He immediately drove to the Harrison Township Fire Department for help.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  No charges are expected against the driver.
