Passenger injured in rollover crash, driver flees

TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says a man was injured after a rollover accident early Sunday morning.

It happened in the 10000 block of 8th Avenue NW, south of Lake Michigan Drive around 2:49 a.m.

Deputies say their investigation found that a 2005 Lincoln LS was driving southbound on 8th Avenue NW when it left the roadway, hit a large tree, and rolled over several times before landing on its roof.

The passenger,  a 48-year-old Interlochen man, was pinned in the vehicle for a short time and had to be extricated. Deputies say he was injured and taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the car fled the scene and has not yet been located.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer.
