GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 35-year-old man is dead following a Sunday afternoon shooting on the northwest side of the city.
“At this point we’re looking at it as a death investigation, we are looking at it from all angles,” Sgt. Terry Dixon with the Grand Rapids Police Department told reporters on scene.
Dixon could not definitively say the shooting was a homicide after initially classifying it as such. He also did not rule out the possibility the gunshot was self inflicted.
No suspects have been identified or taken into custody, he said.
The sound of a gunshot was reported in the area around noon Sunday, according to investigators. A neighbor told FOX 17 she heard multiple gunshots.
Officers told FOX 17 that a person was found shot inside a home near the intersection of Bridge Street NW and Straight Avenue NW.
A FOX 17 crew at the scene said a house at 346 Straight Ave. NW was surrounded by yellow crime tape and police cars.
