First Steps Kent brings local statistics about local children to life by launching a new campaign.

By launching their new campaign, First Steps Kent says they want to help "every young child enter kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed in school and in life."

According to First Steps, there are three key moments in a child's life where, if they're not on track, can alter their lives:

  1. Birth to age three- 85 percent of a child's brain is developed.
  2. Kindergarten- When kids come to school mentally undeveloped, they struggle to read by the time they reach third grade.
  3. End of third grade- If kids aren't ready efficiently by the end of third grade, they have a less likely chance to graduate in high school.

First Steps is working with many companies in the community to learn the most important needs of young children and their families, along with searching for the greatest opportunities that will impact a kid's health, well-being, and readiness for school.

The strategy behind the campaign is to illustrate issues for young children in Kent County. First Steps is launching ads on billboards, television, and even posters at the Rivertown Mall to show some of the issues children are facing.

They hope the ads will help bring investments in early childhood programs and bring in strong returns not only in funding, but in a child's future.
