LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Police have one message to drivers who use their smartphones while driving.

Get Your Head Out Of Your App!

The new public awareness campaign is reminding drivers to focus solely on driving when behind the wheel.

A recent study showed that 41% of drivers between the ages of 20 and 30 admitted to texting or checking email while driving.  Anyone caught texting while driving faces a first time fine of $100 and fines of $200 for any offense after that.

MSP is sharing information on social media with the hashtags #JustDrive and #DistractedDriving.

All talk, no action. I work road construction and the number of drivers with their face in their phone is unbelievable. I know of no one ever ticketed for it. I alway live the ones that keep their head up and strain to look down with their eyes to play on their phones. They are the people that know they are wrong and embarrassed by it. At the same time cant control themselves. Just like seatbelts, you gotta crack down if its ever going to change. Otherwise its just big words
