DORR TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The vice president of Standing Rock Farm Inc. says he is ready to rebuild after a fire destroyed a barn there Friday night.
It happened in the 4200 Block of 20th Street around 8 p.m.
The farm’s vice president Daniel Raak tells FOX17 that no one was at the farm or in the barn at the time of the fire.
Raak says he came home to find the barn in flames.
“We kept our water in there, the heat was in there, we need it,” he says.
The family owned and operated farm has been around for the last 25 years and provides waste removal for restaurants and the food processing industry, according to its website.
He believes the fire may have started from a semi-truck that was using a block heater to keep the semi warm in the winter.
Raak says the reports of explosions came from the tires that were inside the barn at the time of the blaze.
The fire didn’t take long to put out, but it took awhile for crews to check hot spots, Raak says.
It’s not clear how long it will take until the barn is rebuilt but Raak says “we’ll get it done”.
No one was inured in the fire.
