Elves will assemble hundreds of bikes to give to local neighborhood kids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Hundreds of Santa’s Elves will be busy at his Grand Rapids area workshop putting together hundreds of bikes that will eventually go to kids in a local neighborhood.

The local non-profit Elves and More West Michigan is hosting it’s annual Build Day, Saturday December 17th, from 9-10:30 am at Amway Headquarters, located at 7575 Fulton Street in Ada.

They’ll put together 1,100 of the 1,400 bikes set to be given away by Christmas.
They’re expecting more than 200 volunteers.

One lucky Grand Rapids area neighborhood will be recipient the of 12th annual Elves & More bicycle giveaway. Volunteers will also be needed for that day.

Since the give-away started 11 years ago, local corporations and volunteers have assembled and donated more than 13,000 bikes to about 10 Grand Rapids neighborhoods.

Corporations including Amway, Van`s Delivery, Pioneer, Inc. Tailored Building Systems, Big O`s Pizza, Grand River Bank, Yanfeng (formerly JCI), Pridgeon and Clay and Magna Mirrors have donated to help make this event possible.

Each bike could be purchased for $65 (including a safety helmet) as a donation to Elves and More.
