Fallen veterans to be honored across West Michigan with wreaths

WEST MICHIGAN– Fallen Veterans will be honored in Wreaths Across America ceremonies across West Michigan Saturday.

Thousands of wreaths will be laid at a number of ceremonies today followed by taps and a fly-over.

Ceremonies will be held at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 2894 Patterson Road SE, in Grand Rapids Saturday with staging beginning at 11 a.m.

Another ceremony at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, 5163 Fort Custer Drive, starts at 12 p.m. in Augusta.

Wreaths will also be laid at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Avenue NE, at 12 p.m.

The Wreaths Across America event is part of an annual tradition that happens at cemeteries nationwide to remember our heroes.
