GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A lot of people may like getting presents for the holidays, but on Sunday night, many showed why they feel it’s better to give than receive.

It’s called, I Dream Beautiful a Christmas celebration, put on by the group More Selfless”. The big event took place at NorthPointe Christian High School.

More than a hundred children felt the generosity of volunteers making a difference, with hundreds of presents and bicycles given to families in need.

“It fills our hearts up and keeps us going,” days Brady Schmitz, the event organizer. “You get a hug from them, you get genuine gratitude, there’s nothing better than that.”

40 families and more than 130 children crowded the rooms at the school. A professional photographer even donated his services to take free family photos.

“It shows their legacy as a family,” says Two Eagles Marcus, a photographer. “And I think a lot of people want to have their history preserved.”

This is the 7th year for the event and organizers say around $300 dollars in gifts is spent on every child.

Sponsors for the kids also play a big role in making the event a big success. They provide personal gifts for the kids

“It’s a feeling like no other,” says Ebony Matlock, a sponsor for a child. “Just coming in and blessing others, just that feeling is an indescribable feeling. It’s a night of love, joy and peace.”

The night is capped off with a giant group photo to preserve the special moment.

The “I Dream Beautiful” event is always looking for volunteers, donations and sponsors.
