Man sentenced for killing girlfriend; leaving her on street to die

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man convicted of killing his girlfriend and leaving her on a Grand Rapids street to die has been sentenced to prison.

Jermaine Cooper was sentenced Monday to between 62.5 years to 100 years in prison for killing Melissa Moore.

Moore was found by a street sweeping crew in the area of Knapp and Truxton NE on the morning of Nov. 6, 2015.

Cooper was listed as a person of interest and was later arrested Dec. 4, 2015 after a stand-off with police and FBI agents in Detroit.

Cooper was also sentenced to two years in prison for felony firearms possession.
