THREE RIVERS, Mich. — Three people have been charged with multiple felonies after an attempted armed robbery and police chase on Saturday.

"Our officers headed to the scene not knowing for sure what had taken place," said Three Rivers Police Chief Tom Bridgman. "At some point one of our cars and a state police car happened to spot the vehicle fleeing the scene."

Three Rivers Police said they were called to a housing complex on River Drive on reports of a shooting. The victims were able to get the suspects out of their apartment, but the fight continued in the front yard of the building.

"The people that were attempted to be robbed from, they received some injuries," said Chief Bridgman. "But thank goodness not for the bullets."

The suspects fled from the scene in a black SUV and Michigan State Police attempted to stop the vehicle. The chase only lasted a couple of minutes but the suspects' vehicle was frequently in the oncoming lane of traffic.  Three Rivers Police shared dashcam video of the chase on their Facebook page.

Michigan State Police initiated a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, forcing the driver to lose control. The SUV then flipped as it was turning into another housing development. The three suspects — two from Elkhart, Indiana and one Three Rivers resident — were arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including attempted Murder and firearms charges.

"In this case it stopped a vehicle from going into an apartment complex where there's a large amount of children as well as adults," said Chief Bridgman about the PIT maneuver. "It stopped them from going in there."
