GRANDVILLE, Mich. — The Grandville Police Department is investigating after a serious two-car crash late Friday night.

It happened near the intersection of 44th Street SW and Ivanrest Avenue SW about 9:53 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses say the crash happened when a red sedan going northbound on Ivanrest Ave SW ran a red light and struck a black truck driving eastbound onto 44th Street SW. That's when a red car going eastbound on 44th Street SW crashed into the truck.

The 18-year-old driver of the sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A 19-year-old pregnant woman was in the pickup, and was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The intersection at 44th Street SW and Ivanrest Avenue SW is expected to be closed while officers continue to investigate.

Officers say they do not believe speed was a factor in this crash, however they say alcohol could possibly be a factor.
