GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Better Business Bureau of West Michigan is hosting a “shred day” event on Friday at Calvary Church.
You can bring your documents with personal information that need shredding to parking lot #5 from Noon until 2:00pm today.
According to the BBB, anything with personal information such as your birthday, social security number, credit cards, among other things, should be disposed of properly.
Some paperwork that they suggest you shred are documents related to banking, investments, taxes, home information, and any bills or property titles.
“Getting rid of them, doing it securely and well, is key because all this information can be used against you. Someone can literally take this information, pose as you, and then go buy a new house, or open a credit card, or any number of things, and you just don’t want to have to deal with it. It’s as simple as getting rid of it, if it has your personal information,” says John Masterson, Director of Marketing for the BBB.
The event is hosted by Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, located at 707 E Beltline Avenue NE.
