WYOMING, Mich. — The Wyoming Department of Public Safety says a man who was seriously injured in a garage fire back on April 27 has died.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Department dispatch says the fire was reported at about 7:45 p.m. along Burlingame Avenue SW north of 36th Street.

Upon arrival officials ran inside the smoke-filled garage and emerged about 30 seconds later with someone else, according to a witness.

“Two firefighters found him inside the service door to the garage,” said Lt. Mark Easterly of the Wyoming Police Department. “They pulled him out at that point.”

Fire officials say the victim was taken to the hospital for serious burns but died this week.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
