GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- 33 people were arrested in a recent four-day operation in West Michigan by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

In a press release put out early Friday, the agency says the operation was meant to target "criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants and immigration violators."  They say that among the 33 taken into custody, 24 of them had prior criminal convictions.

The operation took place this week across West Michigan.

The arrests span individuals from four different countries: Mexico (22 arrested), Guatemala (7 arrested), El Salvador (3 arrested) and Liberia.

Rebecca Adduci, the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations director in Detroit, said in the release, “Operations like this one demonstrate ICE’s continued focus on the arrest of dangerous criminal aliens as well as those who enter the United States illegally.”

ICE provided brief backgrounds on three of the individuals arrested during the operation:

  • A 37-year-old Liberian man with a conviction for the offense of criminal sexual conduct, 3rd Degree. He was ordered removed from the United States in 2011, and will remain in ICE custody pending removal of the United States.

  • A 22-year-old Mexican woman with convictions for operating without a license, two counts of child neglect, and child abuse, 4th degree.  She will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of her removal proceedings.

  • A 20-year-old Salvadoran man with convictions for destruction of property, larceny, and false identity to law enforcement. He will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.

Yes but you guys used to visit and work here, make money and go back to your home country. Now many foreigners feel they have a right to not go home and stay illegally also collect free benefits that US citizen taxpayers pay for. No we don’t appreciate that. And thanks to new USA loving President our “house” will be secure again.

And all you need to do is worry about yourself…..and i pray karma hits hard actually i hope karma hits you all because we are all the same people no matter where we come from…

Thanks to ICE for removing illegal people. Since when did “Illegal” become an Alright concept. ? Oh yeah, Pres OBama and crew.
You take in 10 strangers of different ethics, habits and unknown background to live in your home, not paying any bills, poss criminal and see how that works out for you. Legal residents deserve security and their money used wisely where they live and work. USA needs to be secure again. That’s one factor that made us great.

Liberia?! Are you kidding me? They are on par with the Congo. NOT surprised arrest was for a sexual conviction. Mind you, these people are NOT “just like us”. When you hear the word “savages”, it would apply to Liberians- and I am not talking of race here, I am speaking of culture. Liberians are animals. Worse than animals. I’m angry that this country is so porous it allows the worst of the planet to enter unheeded. Who ELSE is here illegally? Hitler could walk in.
