ZEELAND, Mich. - One person is dead following a crash Thursday morning in Ottawa County.

The crash happened about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 64th Avenue and Perry Street. Crews at the scene say the crash involved a semi-truck and an Ottawa County Road Commission dump truck.

Deputies say that the Ottawa County dump truck had just dumped its load and was heading east on Perry Street when the driver, Jim Vandenbosch, 59, failed to stop at the intersection of 64th Avenue.  His truck was struck by a semi-trailer hauling animal grain feed hearing north on 64th.  Both vehicles went off the road and ended up in a field.  The semi truck rolled over.

Vandenbosch was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other driver, Andrew Janssen, 40, was pinned in his truck for an extended time and was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The impact of the crash knocked down phone and cable lines at the scene.  Consumers Energy is on the scene fixing the utilities.  As of 4:45 p.m., the intersection was still closed.
