COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- The community came together Sunday to honor a local, fallen officer.

Michigan State Police Trooper Timothy O'Neill died on September 20 from injuries he sustained during a motorcycle crash.

The Michigan Police Unity Team invited bicyclists to come out to Fifth Third Ballpark on Sunday at noon to take a ride in memory of O'Neill.

FOX 17 talked to Sgt. James Every of the Ingham County Sheriff's Office, who was in attendance.

"We're here supporting one of our own who passed, but we're also here helping us grieve and go through that process as well," said Every.

The ride started at the ballpark and then made its way through the White Pine Trail. The route took riders past the crash site before ending back at the ballpark.

"Even if it were raining out here we still would have been out here supporting us, its a good cause."
