WEST MICHIGAN --West Michigan will have a mostly cloudy sky with temperatures in the lower teens and wind chills making temperatures feel in the single and negative digits. Snow showers will continue through the day and some heavy lake effect snow bands at times.

Our viewing area is under a Winter Weather Advisory or Winter Storm Warning through Saturday afternoon or early Sunday morning.

Allegan and Van Buren counties are under the winter storm warning and expected to receive an additional 4 to 7 inches of snowfall with localized areas of higher totals upwards of 9 inches or more.

Communities near the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas can expect an additional 1 to 4 inches of snowfall.

The Grand Rapids metro area can get an additional 1 to 3 inches of snowfall.

Mason and Oceana counties and Muskegon county areas are forecasted to have an additional 3 to 5 inches of snowfall.

Saturday snow showers will continue into the afternoon and evening with some intense and heavy lake effect bands at time. These snow showers will continue overnight. Some communities can see breaks in the snow showers, but do not count on it. Blowing and drifting snow with wind gusts near 20-25 mph will cause difficult travel conditions.

Sunday snow showers will continue with more lake effect showers working inland through the afternoon and evening.

West Michigan will continue to hold on to the arctic cold temperatures through and past the seven-day forecast. Snow chances remain in each day through the week with either full system snow or lake effect snow bands. Bundle up with these dangerously cold temperatures. Limits time outside and check on the elder and pets.
