Suspect sought in Grand Rapids Independent Bank robbery

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Police are searching for the suspect in a Tuesday armed robbery in northeast Grand Rapids.

The robbery was reported at about 10:06 a.m. at the Independent Bank at Plainfield Avenue and Fuller.

Grand Rapids Police say a man robbed the bank using a handgun.  No injuries were reported.

Police say the suspect is described as a black male, in his late 20s or early 30s, standing between 5'8 and 6' with an athletic build. He was last seen wearing a 3/4 length black coat with light brown fur around the hood and dark pants.

Police say the suspect got in the passenger side of a 5th generation 2004-2013  BMW 3 series. It's either a 2 or 4 door sedan with market alloy wheels and after market tinted windows. The vehicle was last seen driving north on Plainfield Avenue.
