Motorcyclist dies after Walker crash; driver of car arrested

WALKER, Mich. – One person has been arrested after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash.

It happened at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Leonard Street just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the motorcyclist was headed northbound on Wilson Avenue and had the green light. He was hit by the driver of a car headed eastbound on Leonard that did not stop for a red light.

The motorcyclist, only identified as a 35-year-old from Walker, died from his injuries.

The driver of the car, only identified as a 36-year-old from Walker, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries but later escaped the hospital.

Grand Rapids police tracked him down at the Rapid Central Station and arrested him.

No word on what charges, if any, the driver of the car will face.
