Standoff in SE Grand Rapids ends peacefully

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A standoff with a barricaded gunman has ended.

Grand Rapids police say the suspect came out of the home willingly shortly after 9:00 a.m. near 33rd Street SE and Marshall Avenue SE.  He was taken into custody without incident.

The standoff lasted about eight hours.  Police say the suspect will be charged with a parole violation and Resisting and Obstructing Police. They will be working to determine if more charges are warranted.

Police began receiving 911 calls about possible shots fired either at people or a suspect flourishing a firearm, shooting into the air early Monday morning.

No one has been injured in this incident.
