HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man was arrested Thursday after authorities say he stabbed a woman and led police on a chase in Holland Township.

The stabbing was reported at about 3:40 p.m. in the 200 block of Franklin Street.  The suspect, a 46-year-old man, fled the area in an SUV and was spotted a short time later by investigators along Riley Street, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the man hit a police cruiser and another vehicle during a chase with police before crashing into a utility pole on Riley and knocking out power to some area residents and businesses. The man was taken into custody.

The 45-year-old Holland Township woman who was stabbed was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition, authorities said Thursday evening.

The man inflicted non-life threatening injuries on himself after the police chase, the sheriff’s office said.  His identity will be released when he is formally charged.

No one was injured during the chase, police said.
