2 injured, 2 suspects jailed in stabbings at Portage banquet hall

PORTAGE, Mich. — Two people were injured after being stabbed early Sunday morning.

This happened just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Renaissance Banquet Hall on Kilgore Road in Portage.

Police say that the two injured people and the two suspects were all attending a private party of about 200 people at the hall when the stabbing occurred.

Both of the injured people, ages 36 and 38 and both from Kalamazoo, were taken to a nearby hospital.

Two suspects, ages 24 and 26 and both from Kalamazoo, are currently being held at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Charging requests will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.

Detectives are looking into a motive and the incident remains under investigation.
