PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) — An off-duty Port Huron police officer has been fatally shot at an apartment building.

St. Clair County Undersheriff Tom Buckley says two people were wounded. The shooting occurred early Friday in Clyde Township.

A suspect was arrested miles away at a gas station in suburban Detroit.

Aaron Shown says he returned to the apartment building after working a late shift and found the driveway marked with crime scene tape. He says, “This kind of stuff doesn’t happen out here.”
