KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Several employees were evacuated from a downtown Kalamazoo building Friday after a fire in a restaurant kitchen.

The fire started in the kitchen of Food Dance in the building at 401 E. Michigan and smoke rose into the duct work and out the roof of the building. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety staff say that the fire is out and there was no structural damage done to the building.  Some areas may have suffered some water damage.

No one was injured.

Several downtown streets were closed while crews fought the fire. Other downtown construction projects made travel difficult.

The restaurant announced on Facebook that they will be closed today and will have more updates as clean up continues.

We'll have more details when they become available.
